1. The Glebe Gallery, Gartan: personally, I prefer a tour of Derek Hill's house to one of Glenveagh. The curator here is ambitious with his exhibitions of contemporary art. The exhibition of local artists' work which starts with a wine reception on Good Friday, one of two days in Ireland when the pubs are officially closed, is the best place to buy good value local art.
2. An Gallearai Falcarraigh: Happily right next door to the Loft Bar. Carefully chosen small exhibitions of local cultural interest.
3. Tory Island Gallery: home to the famous Tory school of primitive painters founded by Derek Hill. The gallery now is a sad and damp spot, but you may still find a painting you like. Look for one of Anton Meenan's if you can.
