1. The home-made cakes in the castle tearoom at Glenveagh Castle: best after a walk down the bridle path or across from Church Hill. This is the official, and best, website for details of the opening times and activities at Glenveagh.
2. The Stone Circle at Raphoe: Donegal's best kept secret. Go to the Diamond in the centre of Raphoe and take the road opposite Friel's, signed for Castlefinn (signpost to circle is missing). At the fork, again take the road to Castlefinn (signpost for circle is turned the wrong way). Carry on until you see a -- correct -- signpost to the circle pointing to the right. Take this road for a while and you will find another signpost to the right. Park by entrance to potato research centre and walk a couple of hundred yards up the track on your right.
3. The Tirconnaill Tribune: the Donegal newspaper written by locals for locals. There is always some gem in it, and the editorials by owner John MacAteer are priceless. Buy it on Thursdays.
