Favourite Pubs

1. Equal first place: Wilkins' Bar, McClafferty's Bar and Callaghan's Bar, Church Hill. A pub crawl in only 50 yards

2. Equal second place -- for the best pint of Guinness: Nancy's in Ardara and The Loft Bar in Falcarraigh. Nancy's squeaks past for overall atmosphere and the crab claws on the menu. The Loft Bar has an open fire and is a great place to stop on the way back from a walk on Falcarraigh Beach.

3. Equal third place: Conway's Bar in Ramelton (wiggle round the back of the warehouses on the river quay) and the Bridge Bar, also in Ramelton. Not much point in showing up in Conway's until past 10 o'clock -- unless you want a seat.

4. Highlands Hotel in Glenties -- check out the paintings on the walls by Johnny Boyle, the hotel owner.

5. The pub in Glen, on the back road between Creeslough and Milford.
